I did not write this, but as a Skirt Sports Ambassador and someone who really belives in the Skirt Sports ethos, I wanted to share a story that was shared with the ambassadors.

A few weeks ago we lost longtime Skirt Sports Ambassador Lisa Young Morrissey after an incredibly brave fight against Glioblastoma Multiforme 4. Lisa truly embodied what it means to be a Skirt Sports Ambassador.

Those who had the chance to meet Lisa, know her strong spirit, inner strength and generosity. Lisa remained strong, positive, focused and determined as she fought this disease. Even before her battle with cancer, Lisa had fought many life battles. She was a warrior and a survivor for many years. And she didn’t waste any time feeling sorry for herself, because she knew that didn’t help.

Lisa wanted to be a mom all of her life. That is one of the first things that I learned about her. She fought to have kids and when she could not deliver her own, she fought to adopt, getting in just under an age cutoff to adopt her two sons. She loved those boys and her world revolved around them, not in a bad helicopter way, but in a positive, strong, supportive, loving way. One of the early conversations I had with her right after her diagnosis, she said to me, “I just want to live to see my boys grow up.” And although she won’t be here on earth to do that, I know she will be watching over those boys and that she has instilled in them what they need to go on.

While Lisa was in her final days, she communicated messages to her twin sister, who recorded them and I want to share two with you today.

To all my friends: Live! Life is for the living. Please live your life to the fullest.
The other message that I recorded was: Better days are coming for you. Better days are coming for all of you.

So let’s honor Lisa by living life to the fullest and continuing to represent the true embodiment of what it means to be a Skirt Sports Ambassador. Be the best athletes and people that we can be, fight to overcome the challenges that we are presented with, value our differences and love each other despite of them, support others as they face their challenges and strive to be a positive role model for others. And know that you have the strength to get through whatever you are faced with and that better days will be on the other side. Skirt love to all!
